The Ministry of Power (MoP) published the Resource Adequacy Guidelines in June 2023, as per the provisions of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2022. As per the Resource Adequacy Guidelines, distribution utilities are mandated to prepare a Long-Term Distribution Resource Adequacy Plan (LT-DRAP) for the next 10 years and revise the plan on an annual basis.
The LT-DRAP report is required to be submitted to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for vetting. After vetting by CEA, the report is to be submitted to the respective State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) for approval.
Discoms are also required to upload the details of date of submission of LT-DRAP to the Respective Regulator as well the details of approval of LT-DRAP by the Regulator.
