Electrical Accident Data Monitoring System (EADMS)

In accordance with Electricity Act, 2003:

• Section 74. (Power to require statistics and returns):

It shall be the duty of every licensee, generating company or person generating electricity for its or his own use to furnish to the Authority such statistics, returns or other information relating to generation, transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity as it may require and at such times and in such form and manner as may be specified by the Authority.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 74 of Electricity Act, 2003, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has prepared following two formats for collection of Electrical accident data from all the States/UTs and from concerned authorities/departments of Central Government. These formats consist of statistics of Fatal and Non-Fatal accidents of Humans and Animals.

Format-19: Statistics on Electrical Accidents

Format-20: Reasons for Electrical Accidents

The data received from various States/UTs and from concerned authorities/departments of Central Government through these prescribed formats is systematically analysed to identify the probable causes of electrical accidents. This analysis serves as a critical tool in formulating preventive measures and taking steps in that direction, thereby reducing the occurrence of such accidents and advancing towards the ultimate goal of achieving zero fatalities from electrical accidents.
